MAHATMA BEYOND GANDHI : MAHATMA GANDHI

     MAHATMA BEYOND GANDHI:
                                            MAHATMA GANDHI
             -AACHAL BURANDE
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was a full name of Mahatma Gandhi. He was born on October 2, 1869, at Porbandar, in the present-day Indian state of Gujarat. Firstly, being as a Indian, all know the history & life events of Mahatma Gandhi. He played very vital role in India’s Independence struggle. Through this journey, some followed him and from other aspects some disfollowed him. But the great philosopher Mr. Jahanbegloo said that ”If you truly want to learn Gandhi or Gandhian philosophy you should read him coming out from the Indian struggle movement for Independence”.

Almost all knows that, Gandhi begins from he left his home to study law in London till the incident of South Africa when he was thrown from 1st compartment to 3rd compartment of the Railway. The second when he entered in the 3rd compartment he came to know about situation of country, how these peoples are surviving, all these heart touching scenes he saw in that 3rd compartment that moment coined his life. Further in India, he worked hard to conquer Indians. Starting from the famous Salt March of April-May 1930, followed by champarnya satyagraha, industrial dispute in Ahemadabad, Gandhi’s famous appeal, Rowlat Act1919,The Khilafat movement, Non- Cooperation movement, Gandhi- Irwin pact, significance of civil disobedient movement,The Neheru’s Report, Round table conference, Puna Pact  & till his death.

Gandhi was mainly known for his philosophy throughout the world. He was the person who strictly walked on the path of “AHIMSA” (non-violence). It not only ends here. We all know the 11 vows of Gandhiji as are mention below: (1) Satya-Truth, (2) Ahimsa-Nonviolence, (3) Brahmacharya-Celibacy (4) Asteya-Non-stealing, (5) Aparigraha or Asangraha-Non-possession (6) Sharira-Shrama; Physicallabour or Bread Labour. (7) Asvada-Control of Palate, (8) Abhaya-Fearlessness, (9) Sarva-Dharma-Samanatva- Equal respect for all Religions, (10) Swadeshi-Duty towards Neighbour and (11) Asprishyatanivarana - Removal of Untouchability. Its really very difficult to follow these rule over the period of time & Gandhiji did that. There are many disciples of Gandhiji, the great Martin Luther King Jr, Nelson Mandela, Jamnalal Bajaj.

“Non-violence is an attribute of the Almighty whose
ways of fulfilling himself are inscrutable.”
