THE PRESIDENTS CUP
THE PRESIDENTS CUP
AACHAL BURANDE
Club in Prince William County, Virginia, USA. Through the 20-plus-year
journey, the world's best players The Presidents Cup began in 1994, with a
competition held at Robert Trent Jones Golf have come together to compete for
team, country and the honor of raising the Presidents Cup trophy. Presidents cup
held after two years. Last cup was in 2015.
All
matches are worth one point each, for a total of 30 points. There are no
playoffs, with each side receiving a half point if a match is tied after 18
holes. In a change inspired by the events of the 2003 Presidents Cup, if the
competition is deadlocked at the end of Singles play, the competition will be
deemed a tie and the teams will share the Presidents Cup.
It has been a rough year for Baltimore City baseball,
especially public school baseball. Only a handful of games citywide have been
played; the fields are in bad shape because of the weather and the lack of
maintenance. My own team has endured, as of today, nine straight postponements
or cancellations to start the season, an incredibly disappointing start to a
year for student-athletes who have been working out since November and formally
practicing since March 1.
Therefore, Bernard C. "Jack" Young's
President's Cup tournament was a much-needed respite from the raining
disappointment of the season thus far. And the game itself was on a day that
was more than just a metaphorical cloud parting; Saturday was one of the
handful of real spring days we have had this year, a sunny, 60-degree day that
felt perfect for baseball. And I was lucky enough to be a coach at this 4th
Annual showcase this past weekend at Orioles Park at Camden Yards
